Our 7-Day Autumn Equinox Women’s Retreat takes place September 17th to 23rd 2024 in the five-star accommodation of Winton Cottage in the grounds of Winton Castle, in Pencaitland, East Lothian. East Lothian was Scotland’s ‘best kept secret’ as a place to visit (until recently when an article in Marie Claire magazine outed our beautiful region!) and our village is ideally situated just half an hour from the Capital City of Edinburgh and offers an abundance of woodland and river walks and stunning Scottish scenery.

MEET THE TEAM:

Nicola Coates-Dutton

Nicola Coates-Dutton

Facilitator

I set up Wild Willow Retreats because I felt inspired to offer women respite from difficult times or busy lives, a chance to care for themselves. I’ve spent most of my adult life caring for others, in an employed capacity – and then as Mum and carer to my three girls. My girls have taught me a lot about life, and about surviving and thriving through adversity.

While gaining my PhD I attended a HolyMama Retreat and since trained as a Retreat Leader on Claudia Spahr’s Retreat Training Certification Programme – LoveField Leadership. I am an honest, empathetic, loving individual, who has put her heart into training in a variety of therapeutic, healing, and fitness settings across the years, including: Jikiden Reiki, Neuro-Linguistic Programming; Hypnotherapy; Fundamental Pilates; and Yin Yoga.

Janet Baxter

Janet Baxter

Janet Baxter is a yoga and hypopressive teacher. As her own kids became older and experiencing perimenopause, Janet became focussed on movements that support and strengthen the body and serve for a long and healthy body and mind in this life.   Janet holds weekly yoga classes for movement and well being, Hypopressive, workshops and retreats.  During her sessions people move their body in the way that feels right for them and  enhance this with breath and awareness. Janet’s mission is to share the benefits of yoga and connect people back to their body, mind and spirit.

Janet enjoys living an active life which wasn’t always possible due to injury and illness. Her yoga and hypopressive practices helped to get her life back and stay on track.   Janet is passionate and so grateful to share the health benefits of yoga and hypopressive.

Anna

Anna

Nature Connection Facilitator

Anna from WanderWomen Scotland Ltd encourages women into the Outdoors and enables them to have their space in the male-dominated Adventure world.

Nature has been my happy place ever since growing up in East Germany, a locked-down country. Getting away from propaganda, Stasi spies and political control, getting outdoors meant freedom and truth, even if that meant holidaying in really basic huts, without electricity or flowing water, skinny dipping in all kinds of bodies of water and cooking over fire.

Wild Swimming is my Meditation, Solo Camping is self-care, Yoga is being playful, Silence is where my Creativity gets birthed, and Walking is thinking & problem-solving. Cycling is getting me from A to B, and my competitive side manifests itself in going slower. I love the smell of fire and the sound of rain on canvas. Plant connection is strong, and I forage, appreciate and lay mandalas to practice mindfulness.

This is your opportunity for some time out, a change of scene, connecting with the season, self-care and grounding, reflect on life, connect with nature and with like-hearted women!

  • Mindful, gentle walking
  • Silent Reflection
  • Meditation
  • Yoga Play
  • Beach Fire & Fire Jumping
  • Sea Swimming (optional)
Sheona

Sheona

Zumba Teacher

Sheona became a Zumba instructor in 2011 and has taught classes in Edinburgh, The French Alps, and East Lothian. Sheona is very passionate about teaching Zumba and is a much-loved and well-respected local and international teacher. She talks with heartfelt energy and enthusiasm about her love for Zumba and dance.

‘I had attended and enjoyed many dance aerobics classes but it wasn’t until I went to a Zumba class in Leith that I got hooked, the instructor was inspiring and the hall was packed full of people of all different ages, shapes and sizes, shimmying and whooping their way through a workout.  Zumba uses rhythms and dance styles from around the world. Zumba doesn’t feel like a workout, it feels like a party with your friends. Good for the body and the soul, it leaves you feeling invigorated and revitalised. I am passionate about dance and the positive effect it has on physical and mental well-being.’

Sheona also teaches Ceroc and has won team cabaret competitions at the UK and Scottish championships. She has run various children’s dance clubs over many years, including South African Gumboot Dancing. She has previous experience performing as part of her Gumboot Dancing Troop during The Edinburgh Festival.
